HW 9/15 Bio on the Maiar
The lord Iluvator created me to inhabit Ea alongside my senior peers. We call these peers the Valar, and we are all Ainur. However, our lord has created us for distinct reasons, and so we follow the commands of our exalted peers. We do have many powers, but we only use them to do the bidding of the Valar and our lord. We do not have one form but instead look mystical to the elves and men of Middle-earth. We Maia under the Valar do many different things. Under Varda we serve as protectors of the stars. Varda was responsible for the bright lights that were conveyed in Valinor, so the Maia under Varda assist in the display of light. We serve her diligently because the stars create hope in all creatures that inhabit middle earth. Under Aule we Maia are intellectually stimulated. We must craft items and understand the materials our world generously bestowed upon us by the great Iluvator contains. We study the stones and minerals of the earth, the lakes, the air, and all things natural to completely understand them. From this understanding comes the beautiful Maian art celebrated by the inhabitants of middle earth. Aule has a beautiful vision for our earth, so we Maia must be the executors who turn this vision into a reality. We primarily work to ensure the world is the way Iluvator and the Valar intend it to be. However, some Maia may follow Valar who have strayed, like a notable one named Sauron. He was once a brilliant Maia who had the favor of all our exalted peers, but his insatiable greed and aspirations consumed him. This is unfortunate as we were created to fulfil and execute our creator’s original design, but somethings are out of our control. Although I see that some of my peers have strayed from this path, I ensure I always do what the creator intended me to do. I am bound to the will of Eru, and know his word is all that matters. My brethren and I do not work for ourselves and instead work towards a greater earth envisioned by Eru. Although we Maia may be small in numbers, we are aware that the significance of our work is large. We are the invisible laborers that shape the world and ensure that it does not fall into chaos and away from what Eru intended. We are all embers of Erus will, and when together, form a bonfire that represents the beauty that is his original song. We are eternal and will do whatever we need to do to satisfy the wishes of Eru and the Valar.
